WHAT IS HOLISTIC NUTRITION?

Holistic simply means whole, it recognizes that no system in our bodies works independently of the other systems and to be in optimal health we must recognize and address this interconnectedness.  

Holistic nutrition takes this philosophy and applies it to the food we eat.  It addresses the source of our symptoms and works to correct imbalances that contribute to our symptoms.  

It recognizes that our bodies have an incredible ability to heal them selves given the proper nutrition and habits. 

WHAT CAN A HOLISTIC NUTRITIONIST HELP ME WITH?

Any and all health concerns can be helped with proper nutrition.  Some examples are, but not limited to...

Digestive issues, heart burn, cramping, bloating, diabetes, pre-diabetes, hypoglycemia, auto immune disorders, healthy weight loss, sleep troubles, lack of energy, high or low blood pressure, high cholesterol, prenatal and postnatal nutrition, or just feeling 'off' and not being able to figure it out.

WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER HOLISTIC NUTRITIONIST SERVICES?

I am registered with CANNP (Canadian Association of Natural Nutrition Practitioners) and my services are billable to some insurance companies. 

Currently Manulife, Green Shield, Industrial Alliance (iA group), Claimsecure and Alberta Blue Cross cover my services as long as they have selected nutritional counselling as an eligible benefit in their package.  Sunlife covers my services under their Wellbeing Account.

It is always best to confirm with your plan if it is covered prior to relying on your coverage to pay for your appointments.  The words you use are important when inquiring, you are asking about 'nutritional counselling.'  

WILL YOU MAKE ME STOP EATING ALL THE THINGS I LOVE?!?

Absolutely not.  If you hate something you are not going to keep doing it.  We will work together to make a plan that you can realistically maintain for a LONG time, and not hate it.

DO I NEED TO LIVE IN VALEMOUNT TO WORK WITH YOU?

Nope!  I don't see clients in person so we can work together from anywhere!

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN I BOOK A CONSULTATION?

I ask a million questions, mostly in forms to be completed at your convenience.  I really try to understand you as a person, you didn't get to where you are overnight and sometimes it takes some digging to figure out the path to help you find the way back to a healthy, balanced body.

WHY DO YOU NEED FOOD LOGS?

Just like you cannot give someone driving in their car directions to where they want to go without knowing where they are, I cannot help you to reach your health goals if I don't know where you're starting from.  

It is important not to change your regular routine when recording what you eat, simply keep doing what you usually do and record it.
