That new diet didn't work out, we've all been there...




Frustrated, defeated and often worse off than before we even tried.  The yo-yo continues... It is easy to think 'why even try?'


It doesn't have to be that way.  


As a society we want fast results, 'I can suffer for a short time to get those fast results.'  But more often than not the quick fix does not work and the odd time it does the results rarely last.


We are basically still cave people biologically, and our bodies have not kept up with the current environment we live in of constantly available food.  


When we lose weight very quickly our bodies view it as a famine event that they need to recover from in order to prepare for the next famine.  Traditionally, this is how we survived winter when food wasn't readily available.  


But in our modern lives once you stop dieting your body will actively try to put the weight back on to 'survive the next famine.'


To avoid your body actively trying to regain the weight you lost you need to lose it slowly.  Slow and steady definitely wins this race in the long run.  


The simple, yet hard part here is the consistency needed to maintain long term habits to support those long term goals.   


Very often when we try to make a change to our health or well being we take on too much, it is hard to maintain and then instead of just doing what we can, we give up.  All or none.  The yo-yo continues...


It is the small, simple things that we can do that add up to make a very big difference.  The thing with small steps is they often feel silly and like it won't actually make a difference so we overlook them.  We think it has to be a big change to be worth doing.  


But here is the thing, small steps are easy and every step in the right direction gets you closer to your goal.  


When you are tired are you more likely to do a small easy thing or a big hard thing? 

Guess what?!? Those small things will snowball and add up and build on each other and before you know it you've gone further towards your goal than those big hard steps ever got you! 


Examples of small things to incorporate would be...

-making sure you drink an appropriate amount of water

-don't drink sugar

-eat more plants

-eat enough protein

-prioritize sleep

-move your body in a way you enjoy
